This mysterious ingredient found in our Elixir Plumping Serum raises many questions! So I'm taking the time to introduce you to this incredible botanical ingredient that is full of virtues for the health of your skin. We often associate the word acid with a strong product, maybe in a wrong way, but here we are talking about one of the most moisturizing substances available!
What is hyaluronic acid?
It is a translucent and slightly viscous substance that our body produces naturally. It is found more particularly in the skin, connective tissue and eyes. Along with collagen and elastin, it is one of the main components of the skin. Its main function is to maintain the skin's elasticity. However, as our bodies age, hyaluronic acid production slows down, which is why it is used in anti-aging skin care products.
It is also a humectant, a type of hygroscopic ingredient that draws moisture from the environment. It is therefore a substance that stimulates the hydration of all skin types, which is why it is found in a wide range of cosmetic products such as water-based moisturizers and serums. A little fun fact: a hyaluronic acid molecule can hold up to 1,000 times its weight in water. ;-)
Why is this ingredient in our Elixir Plumping Serum? (psst, it’s also in a new product formulation which we will be announcing soon!)
The beneficial properties of hyaluronic acid are maximized when combined with other moisturizing ingredients, such as in a serum. Here, it's listed as an ingredient in our wonderful Elixir Plumping Serum (click here to be redirected to the product page on our website) along with our exquisite jojoba oil maceration infused with calendula flowers, rose, lavender, marshmallow roots and vanilla beans. Together, they direct moisture into the dermis of the skin where it is needed.
Is it for all skin types?
Yes, hyaluronic acid is effective for all skin types! However, not all products containing hyaluronic acid are suitable for all skin types, which is why you should do your research before purchasing a cosmetic product, depending on the needs of your own skin. It is interesting to note that it is an effective ingredient for oily and acne-prone skin: just because skin looks oily doesn't mean it is necessarily hydrated. Hyaluronic acid is therefore a good moisturizing solution that leaves the skin fresh and light!
In short, here are hyaluronic acid’s key benefits:
- Improves the texture and suppleness of the skin by stimulating cell regeneration
- Helps to preserve the skin's natural moisture and protect it from external aggressions
- Improves skin hydration
- Helps reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles
Hyaluronic acid is such an amazing and all-natural ingredient, which is why I couldn't help but tell you about it. Yes, well-hydrated skin is the foundation of healthy skin!
All the best,
